I always wondered why chicken cacciatore was called chicken cacciatore.
Cacciatore means "hunter" in Italian. So, the dish translates to "chicken hunter-style." I thought cooking it would help me understand the meaning of the name, but it didn't help at all. All I know is that, my Bandie Wandie enjoyed this dish!
The Recipe:
300 g of chicken (breast, thigh) cut into big pieces
2 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion thinly sliced
1 carrot, chopped
3 cloves of garlic, minced
1/3 cup white wine
1 can of tomato
salt and pepper
1 potato, chopped
1) In a large pan, put olive oil and cook onion.
2) Push onion to the side of pan and cook the garlic and chicken until brown
3) Add salt/pepper and wine. Simmer for 3 min.
4) Add can of tomato and cook for 30 min
5) Add potato and carrots and cook until the chicken, potato, carrot are soft.
